I graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1988. I received my BA in Economics from the University of Michigan - Dearborn in 1992. I worked at Heritage Bank in their management program for about one year. After having my children, I returned to U of M - Dearborn and earned my secondary teaching certificate with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Social Studies. During this time, I was the Program Director for Creative Child Care Center in Brownstown. I completed my student teaching at RCHS in the fall of 1999. Lucky for me, I was immediately hired as a math teacher at Airport HS beginning in January 2000. Lucky for me again, Riverview HS had an opening for a math teacher in summer 2000, and I was hired!! While working, I completed my Master's Degree in Education from U of M in May 2004.
During my time at RCHS, I have taught Algebra 1, Personal Finance, Economics, Trigonometry, and my favorites, Probability, Statistics, and AP Statistics. I have been involved in many activities and committees including dance coach, Homecoming sponsor, National Honor Society adviser, Computer Club sponsor, Varsity Bowling coach, Student Council sponsor, and Asst. Senior Class sponsor. I greatly enjoy working with the students outside of the classroom.
Personally, I have been married to Tim Ames for 13 years. He is a retired Woodhaven police officer and the assistant hockey coach for the Gabriel Richard Varsity hockey team. I have two daughters, Jordyn age 23 and Haley age 20. Jordyn recently graduated from BGSU and is studying Occupational Therapy at the University of Toledo. Haley is a junior at the University of Tennessee studying Sports Management. I also have two stepchildren. Deanna is a junior at Eastern Michigan University and John is a senior at some other high school in Riverview (LOL). We have two dogs, Riley (the lab) and Tucker (the yorkie pup). They keep us very busy! In our little bit of spare time, we enjoy Tiger games, boating, Jimmy Buffett concerts, and traveling.
